Pool Heater Repair in Palm Beach County
When a pool heater stops heating, the cause is usually one of a handful of things — water flow, a dirty coil, a sensor, ignition, or a refrigerant problem. We find the actual fault, explain it in plain terms, and quote the repair before we touch anything.
Common problems
Where pool heaters go wrong
Low water flow
Dirty filters, full baskets or a partly closed valve trip the pressure switch, so the heater won't fire.
Dirty or corroded coils
Salt air, dust and yard debris coat a heat pump's coil and cut its output. Common near the coast.
Refrigerant leaks
A heat pump that runs but blows barely-cool air may be low on refrigerant — a job for a licensed tech.
Gas ignition & burners
Failed igniters, dirty burners, insects in the orifices and bad flame sensors stop gas heaters lighting.
Heat exchanger damage
Low pH or high salt corrodes copper exchangers and causes leaks. Balanced water prevents it.
Controls after storms
Lightning and power surges damage control boards and sensors — frequent in South Florida summers.
Troubleshooting
Check these before you call
- 1
Thermostat is set above the current water temperature, and the heater is on Pool or Spa — not Off.
- 2
The pump is running. Heaters won't fire without water flow.
- 3
Filter is clean, skimmer and pump baskets are empty, and valves to the heater are open.
- 4
The breaker (heat pump) or gas supply valve (gas heater) is on.
- 5
Write down any error code on the display — it tells the technician where to start.
Smell gas, hear banging, or see water pooling under the unit? Turn it off and call us. Never open a gas heater's cabinet or handle refrigerant yourself.
