Solar & hybrid

Solar & Hybrid Pool Heating in Palm Beach County

Solar collectors on your roof warm pool water using nothing but South Florida sun. On its own, solar depends on the weather — so we pair it with a heat pump or gas heater that only runs when the sun can't keep up. That's a hybrid system: the lowest running cost, with warm water you can count on.

How it works

How a hybrid system heats your pool

  1. 1

Your pool pump sends water up to collector panels on a sunny section of roof.

  2. 2

The sun warms the water as it runs through the panels, then it flows back to the pool.

  3. 3

A sensor and automatic valve only send water to the roof when the panels are warmer than the pool.

  4. 4

When the sun isn't enough, the controller switches on the heat pump or gas heater to hold your temperature.

Benefits

Why homeowners choose hybrid

Lowest running cost

Solar energy is free; the backup heater runs far less than it would on its own.

Reliable warmth

Cloudy week or cool front, the backup keeps the pool at the temperature you set.

Longer equipment life

Sharing the load means the heat pump or gas heater works fewer hours each year.

Works with what you have

Many existing heaters can become the backup in a new hybrid system.

What makes a good solar home

Roof space

Collectors typically need roof area equal to at least half the pool's surface.

Sun exposure

South, west or flat roofs with little shade work best.

Pump capacity

Your pump must lift water to the roof — we check it before recommending solar.
